EMDR Therapy
Healing Through New Understanding
When you’ve been through painful or overwhelming experiences, your mind and body can hold on to them long after they’re over. You might know you’re safe now, but still find yourself reacting as if you’re not—feeling anxious, on edge, or flooded with emotions that don’t seem to fit the moment.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a gentle and effective approach that helps your brain process those stuck memories so they no longer hold the same emotional charge. It’s not about reliving the past—it’s about helping your nervous system realize that the danger is over, and that you are safe now.
EMDR can be especially helpful if you’ve experienced:
Trauma or difficult life events (big or small)
Anxiety, panic, or constant self-doubt
Grief and loss that still feel unresolved
Low self-worth or persistent negative self-beliefs (“I’m not enough,” “It’s my fault,” “I can’t trust anyone”)
In EMDR therapy, we’ll start by building a foundation of safety and stability. You’ll learn grounding tools and coping strategies to help you stay present and supported throughout the process. Once you feel ready, we’ll begin reprocessing the memories or experiences that continue to cause distress—always at your pace, with care and collaboration.
Through this process, many people find that old triggers lose their intensity, and the feelings that once felt overwhelming become easier to manage. It’s not about forgetting what happened—it’s about being able to remember it without reliving it.
Over time, EMDR can help you:
Feel calmer and more grounded in your daily life
Develop a more compassionate view of yourself
Strengthen your ability to cope with stress and uncertainty
Reconnect with a sense of confidence, safety, and hope
Whether your wounds come from one event or years of smaller hurts that built up over time, EMDR therapy can help you move from surviving to truly living.
I offer EMDR therapy in person in Snoqualmie, WA, and online throughout Washington, Texas, and Colorado. Together, we can help you make sense of what’s been weighing you down and create space for the life you want to live.
