Frequently asked questions.

What is the cost and length of sessions?

Full fee for a 50 minute session is $150. However, you getting the help you need is important and if we are a good fit I do have some sliding scale spots. Please reach out for more information.

Do you take any insurance?

I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies depending on your plan, so I recommend contacting your provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. Most out-of-network mental health benefits reimburse somewhere between 40 and 80 percent of the session fee after a deductible is met. Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask three things: do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, what's my deductible and how much have I met, and what percentage do you reimburse for CPT code 90837.

Additionally, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must provide patients who aren’t using insurance, an estimate of the expected health care costs. You will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate as part of the intake packet.

For questions or more information about your rights for a Good Faith Estimate, please visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

How long will I be in therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process, and the length of our time together is a decision largely made by you. We will work to tailor a treatment plan for you. Treatment often starts with weekly appointments and then moves to bi-weekly and even monthly if appropriate.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is private and confidential, with very few exceptions required by law (such as safety concerns).

Do you offer both online and in-person therapy?

Yes! I provide secure, HIPAA-compliant online counseling for clients anywhere in Washington, Texas, or Colorado. Online therapy is a flexible and convenient way to access support from the comfort of your home.

I also offer in-person therapy sessions at my office in Snoqualmie, Washington, serving clients throughout the greater Snoqualmie Valley, North Bend, and the Eastside.

Are the benefits of telehealth? What can I expect sessions to look like?

Having sessions virtually means that you get to attend your sessions in a space that is comfortable for you and provides most of the same benefits as traditional counseling. You simply log in to our sessions using a secure platform just as you would for any other virtual meeting. As long as you have privacy and a stable internet connection, there should be no problems. If you prefer face to face counseling, I have office hours Fridays at an office in downtown Snoqualmie.

What if I'm in crisis between sessions?

If you're in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7, or go to your nearest emergency room. We can also build a plan together for what to do during harder stretches.

Can I still see you if I travel or move?

It depends where you are physically during the session. I'm licensed in Washington, Texas, and Colorado, so I can see you when you're located in any of those states. If you move elsewhere, I will do my best to help you find a therapist licensed there.

Who do you work with?

At this time I am only working with adults and have lots of experience working with all ages and issues.

Can EMDR be done online?

Absolutely! Learn more about EMDR here or I wrote a blog post about it here.

How do I get started?

Call or email me to set up a free consultation to see if we are a good fit. During this call I will get a bit more information from you and you will get ask any questions you may have. From there I will send you the intake paperwork prior to our first session. If we decide we are not a good fit, I will do my best to provide you with a list of referrals.

What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is mostly about getting to know you. I'll ask about what brought you in, what's been hardest lately, and what you're hoping for. You don't need to prepare anything or have your story organized. If you'd rather not go into detail right away, that's fine, we go at your pace.
